My winter in Nelson has been one of finding personal truths.

This mix is for my friends Talia and Dale, who have greatly influenced my musical direction into the world of the psy downtempo.
It just so happens that two shows that i will be playing this October will be this genre of musik and it so happens that both their birthdays land between these 2 events.
So as a “thanks” and a “happy birthday” from me…i dedicate this mix to these two lovely creatures of the fae.
This mix is a smattering of psy-dub, psy-DM, and psy -breaks.
It seems hard to describe the downtempo genre into sub-genres but all i know is that it contains sections of warm tribal beats, funky dub basslines, glitchy IDM melodies and some high enlightening vocals.
It was super fun to mix and compile and definitely had my bum shaking throughout the mix. i hope you enjoy this and a happy birthday to you Talia and to you Dale.

This is a prog-psy mix that just came to be. I received a bunch of new cds and started playing on my cdjs. I recorded what i played and this mix came out. I am super happy with the way it turned out.
I believe that through our purest creative processes, we reveal our true selves. No one can tell you how to be a creative individual, this only comes from within yourself.
I occasionally tap into this, feeling the honest connection with the collective consciousness. The more i connect, the more i understand that this is where i belong, where i feel most comfortable, where i am not afraid to be my true self. Where prejudices and selfish actions hold no value.
True beauty comes from honest expression and honest expression will show you true beauty.

This is an IDM mix that has taken me the last 3 months to compile, program and mix.
This particular mix is for my beautiful friend Tracy.
One who has shown me the polarized aspects of life. From the most beautiful and creative thoughts to the the most horrific of human traits, through our friendship Ive witnessed all of this and more.
For these lessons in life, I Thank you Tracey.
The tracks Ive selected blend in a subtle and smooth fashion, with a few ambient change ups that provide a sense of vastness. The broken beats provides a background for warm, soothing pads, which in turn creates an atmosphere for dreamtime.

This is my fist attempt at a ethno/dub style mix. Well the first track is an exception to the mix. I’ve been looking for something that would mix out of it for over 3 years and thanks to Anahata, I’ve found a piece of majik that compliments it perfectly (in my opinion). So thanks Anahata for completing this long overdue journey!
This journey begins at about 70bpm and slowly makes its way up to 118bpm. Fusing the funkiest psy-dub, glitchy psy-dm and haunting world beats. The mix is a bit shorter than I would have liked, but nothing more could be fit into the puzzle without compromising the overall aural adventure.
So I invite you to put on your dancing shoes, turn up the volume and listen.
